Philip was born and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio. He studied painting at Washington & Lee University, Graphic Design at Parsons, and then worked in New York as an award-winning, editorial art director for 10 years, most recently at Real Simple magazine. While closely collaborating with photographers over those years, Philip felt increasingly drawn to the camera. He decided to take classes at ICP and eventually committed himself to a second career as a photographer. With his strong design-oriented background, Philip offers his clients a broad range of talents and the ability to view projects from multiple perspectives. He has shot for a diverse roster of advertising, editorial, and commercial clients, including Target, West Elm, Martha Stewart, and Herman Miller. Outside of his studio, he enjoys bike touring, fly-fishing, and hiking on backcountry trails in Northern Michigan with his husband, Mike.
